Projects Timeline
Dube TradePort Corporation works to continually invest in both new and upgraded infrastructure and technical projects across the Special Economic Zone. This archive highlights milestone delivery across passenger, cargo, industrial, utility and investor-enabling precinct infrastructure.
Passenger, Cargo and TradeZone delivery
Passenger Terminal: Delivered on schedule. Baggage handling system, air bridge and HVAC system commissioned, building systems being calibrated and tested.
Cargo Terminal: Commissioning of ETV and cargo systems complete, building hand-over and snagging ongoing. Negotiations concluded for V.C.T. Bulk earthworks for V.C.T. development in progress. Tenant fit-out for SAAC and E.A.S. in progress.
Dube TradeZone: Roads and bulk infrastructure complete. Final snagging and hand-over in progress.
Dube TradeHouse development in progress, with building internals commenced. Cargo pallet conveyor bridge-bases complete.
Official opening and route activation
Dube TradePort Corporation official opening by South African President J.G. Zuma
SA Express signs deal with Dube TradePort to launch Durban routes connecting Harare and Lusaka.
Industrial investment milestone
Samsung Electronics SA established in Dube TradePort Industrial Development Zone.
Public infrastructure upgrades
Completion of three public infrastructure projects:
- Bulk infrastructure at Dube TradeZone 1B; and
- Upgrade of the public space at Mount Moreland.
- Air Chefs building.
International Trade Avenue completion
In line with precinct expansion, the R200 million International Trade Avenue - a dual carriage highway - was completed providing access between tracts of developable land north of the existing site and the N2 and R102 freeways, via the Watson Highway.
Operational support facilities expansion
A guardhouse, located in Dube TradeZone 1 was completed. In addition, a warehouse for disaster response organisation, Gift of the Givers, was completed, along with a technical facility, in Dube TradeZone 1, whilst a workshop was established in Dube AgriZone.
The construction of a double basement in Block D, in Dube City, commenced.
Operational investments included:
- Amsted Reelin;
- Retractaline
Infrastructure and investor enablement
Projects designed to give effect to electrical infrastructure in Dube TradeZone 1, the fit-out of a One-Stop-Shop satellite centre and Dube TradeZone 1 guardhouse were completed. In addition work on the Hlawe River Trunk Sewer was completed.
Operational Investments included:
- Millhouse International;
- Monmouth Investments;
- Yangtze Optics Africa;
Major industrial and utility investment
The practical completion of Dube AgriZone's water laboratory and technical facility was achieved, whilst an agreement was signed with Mara Phones SA (Pty) Ltd regarding its investment of R1.28 billion in a new facility located within Dube TradeZone 1. Additional investments were made by Monustep and Hodari Properties (Pty) Ltd, who undertook the renovation of an existing facility in order to accommodate a new tenant, Conlog (Pty) Ltd.
Operational Investments included:
- iDube Cold Storage;
- AIH Logistics;
- Teqal;
- Mara Phones SA.
Precinct expansion and fit-out delivery
Completed projects included:
- Dube AgriZone workshop;
- Dube TradeZone mini-factories;
- Double basement within Block D, Dube City;
- Aerotropolis Model Room; and
- Tenant fit-out for a second tenant at the Airchefs building.
Operational investment includes:
- Conlog Pty Ltd;
- CHEM Energy SA Pty Ltd; and
- LM Diapers Pty Ltd.
