It’s Full Steam Ahead for Dube TradePort

The end is now well and truly in sight and everyone connected with the construction of the Dube TradePort and New International Airport is knuckling down to completing the finishing touches by deadline.
Progress Report:
Primary Runway, Aprons and Taxiways
All runway and taxi-way asphalt work and airfield markings have been fully completed, while the testing and commissioning of the runway lights and PAPIs continues on schedule.
In addition, the top-soiling and hydro-seeding of the runway strip has been finished.
Passenger Terminal
All the final finishes within the Passenger Terminal’s check-in hall are now nearing completion. The baggage-handling system has been commissioned and final testing and adjustments are being carried out.
The air-bridges are fully complete and final ‘snagging’ and building hand-over operations are underway.
Cargo Terminal
The commissioning of ETV and cargo systems is continuing.
Tradehouse
The building structure of the Tradehouse is 80% complete and progressing extremely well.
External Works and Roads
Work on the R102 link road is underway. Road markings and appropriate signage is now considered 80% complete.
Bulk Infrastructure
The construction of the south and north treatment works is now 100% complete and commissioning is in progress.
Control Tower
The completed Control Tower has been handed over to ATNS.
Trade Zone
The process of final ‘snagging’ and hand-over, as regards roads and infrastructure, is currently being undertaken.
Support Zone
Support Zone roadwork and infrastructure development is almost complete.
Now pile-driving for the Dube TradePort office complex is being carried out.
Multi-storey Parkade
The multi-storey parkade’s office building is in the final ‘snagging’ stage and progressing well.
Fire and Rescue Building
The fire and rescue building is fully complete.
