Dube TradePort Development Moves Into Overdrive

Construction work at Dube TradePort and its attendant New International Airport has moved into overdrive with many elements nearing completion, while the commissioning of others is being undertaken.

Progress to date is detailed as follows:

Primary Runway, Aprons and Taxiways
The laying of asphalt on the runway and most of the interlinking taxiways has been completed.

In addition, work on the apron taxi-lanes and the installation of airfield lighting is progressing well, while the top-soiling and hydro-seeding of the runway strip has been fully completed.

Passenger Terminal
The final commissioning of the sophisticated baggage-handling system is underway. Tile and carpet installation is at an advanced stage and the finishes for offices, toilets and other facilities is ongoing.

Lifts and escalators have been installed, while the granite stairs are currently being put into place.

Electrical and mechanical installations in the basement area are now nearing completion, while all internal cladding and ceiling-work is progressing well.
 
Work on the placement of internal signage within the terminal has also commenced.

Cargo Terminal
ETV commissioning is currently being undertaken, while the installation of the mechanical equipment for cargo-handling is at an advanced stage.

Site Roads and Parking
Much of the kerbing and laying of asphalt is now close to completion and the grassing of banks and verges is progressing on schedule.

The construction of shade-cloth structures for the open parking area is some 50% complete.

Landscaping work within the terminal precinct has commenced and is progressing well.

Control Tower
The completed Control Tower has been handed over to ATNS.

Support Zone
Kerbing for roadwork throughout the Support Zone is underway.

Trade Zone
The bulk earthworks required within the Trade Zone area has been completed and the development of roads and other infrastructure is progressing well. Fencing within the Trade Zone is also now being undertaken.

All concrete work for the Radar Tower has been completed.

Bulk Infrastructure
Bulk Infrastructure development is progressing on schedule.

Multi-storey Parkade
The Multi-storey Parkade building is complete, while the car-park entrance, attendant external roads and landscaping is all presently being developed.

Fire and Rescue Building
The Fire and Rescue Building has been finished and work on its external areas is in progress.
