Picking Up The Pace Of Construction

- Dube TradePort on Track heading into the last quarter of 2009 -

The pace of construction on the burgeoning Dube TradePort site is hotting-up as we begin the surge into the last quarter of this year.

Progress to date:

Primary Runway
The laying of asphalt on the runway and most of the taxiways has been completed. Work is continuing as regards three remaining taxiways, namely Bravo, Foxtrot and November.

Work on the installation of the airfield lighting is progressing on schedule.

Taxiways and Aprons
The apron taxilane has been fully completed.

Passenger Terminal
The final finishes for offices, toilets and other facilities is progressing steadily. Meanwhile, the baggage carousels and check-in areas have been installed and completed.

The commissioning of the baggage handling system is currently underway.

Cargo Terminal
The Cargo Terminal is now almost complete. Final ‘snagging’ of the office areas is being undertaken, while ETV commissioning has also commenced.

The installation of the mechanical cargo handling equipment is progressing well.

Site Roads
The laying of asphalt and the installation of kerbing is being completed in most site road areas, while earthwork for all landscaping adjacent to such roads has also commenced.

A number of shade cloth structures for the open parking areas continue being installed.

Control Tower
The final fit-out is progressing on schedule.

Support Zone
Roadwork and services installation within the Support Zone is ongoing.
