More Significant Progress At Dube TradePort
There is no let-up in the quest to complete the construction of Dube TradePort on schedule.
Progress on site includes the following:
Primary Runway
The first of three asphalt layers is now 90% complete and work has already begun on the second layer.
Taxiways
Layerworks for the entire airport’s main taxiways are at an advanced stage. In addition, work is also progressing well on the parallel taxiway, rapid-exit taxiways and link taxiways to aprons.
Passenger Terminal
Storage and equipment rooms in the basement area are being painted and services are currently being installed.
On the mezzanine level the baggage-handling system is being fitted, while on the roof the steel team is presently working on the fifth of the six main trusses. Roof-sheeting is in progress and is regarded as 30% complete.
Cargo Terminal
The ULD roller-systems are now being assembled. Meanwhile, work on the cargo racking system is well advanced and work has now also begun on the cargo terminal’s external loading/parking area.
Site Roads
The N2 interchange construction remains on programme, while the approach roads and piers are progressing well. In addition, work on the adjacent N2 access, Agri-Zone and other related roads is ongoing and progressing well.
Control Tower
Work on cab roof is currently being undertaken, while work on the control tower’s internal fittings is progressing steadily.
Support Zone
The Support Zone’s road layerworks are now being completed and all storm-water reticulation is progressing well.
Trade Zone
Bulk earthworks: The final cut is presently nearing completion
Storm-Water Reticulation: Work on storm-water reticulation is progressing well and remains on schedule.
Sewer Reticulation: Sewer reticulation work has commenced.
Top-soil and Grassing: Top-soil and grassing has been undertaken.
Other Infrastructure
Fire and Rescue Building: Glazing of the fire and rescue building has almost been completed, while other building finishes, including lifts, plumbing and the like are all nearing completion.
Bird Radar: The bird radar equipment has been installed on site for trial operations and is presently collecting data.
Bulk Infrastructure
Electrical cabling: Good progress is being made with regard to the installation of 11kV cables.
Airside Sub-Station Buildings: Construction work on the airside sub-station buildings is ongoing.
Fire Reservoir: The fire reservoir is currently being developed.
Potable Water Reservoir: The potable water reservoir is now viewed as being substantially complete.
Fuel Farm: Work on the fuel farm support buildings has commenced.
