The Dube TradePort development initiative is being driven by Dube TradePort, an association incorporated under Section 21 of the Company’s Act of 1973.

The Provincial Government of KwaZulu-Natal established the public company, Dube TradePort, which is wholly funded by the province’s Department of Economic Development, so enabling it to undertake the development of the Trade Zone, Support Zone and Agri-Zone which combine to form the Dube TradePort.

The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) a national, government-owned company responsible for the development and operation, management and maintenance of airports country-wide, is responsible for the construction and operation of the new international airport element of the Dube TradePort.

Dube TradePort is undertaking the development initiative as a response to the need for improved air passenger and air freight facilities in KwaZulu-Natal.

This is a visionary project and one which the company believes will unlock extensive economic opportunities in:

  • Global manufacturing;
  • Logistics;
  • Trade; and
  • Tourism.

The company envisages that the Dube TradePort project will provide a significant economic stimulus to the economy of KwaZulu-Natal specifically and South Africa generally, through the provision of world-class facilities for inter-continental passenger travel and freight transfer.
